Are Parents Really Welcome?  Understanding the Impact of Gatekeepers and First Impressions on Parent Involvement

Are you trying to increase the presence of families?  We've all heard the saying, "First Impressions are Lasting".  Are you aware of what families experience when they enter your doors or arrive at your meetings?  Learn what matters most to families and strategies to assess how you're doing and ways to improve.  For many families, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression.

HOPE Out Loud

Because every child has possibilities!

A Workshop for Parents and Families

This workshop teaches:

· The importance of HOPE to a child’s future

· How to use HOPE to improve your child’s achievement

· How is HOPE the basis for parent leadership and partnership with professionals

As parents and caregivers, we must know and believe that our child has possibilities—no matter what our family might be facing.  We must be active, confident voices in making sure that our children are pursuing those possibilities and are successful in life.  Our hopes for our children are what will make the difference in what our children achieve.  We must be ready to hope out loud so that our children can succeed and also understand that their possibilities are endless.  Our children’s futures are on the line.  Participants are asked to bring a picture of their child to paste on the cover of their own HOPE Out Loud ™ booklet to be completed while in the workshop.  Parents return home with their own pre-printed booklet that captures parent strengths, parent’s hopes and dreams, barriers and then steps to be taken to keep moving forward and more.
